INTERVIEW WITH TX3RD COAST MMA OWNER- PROFESSOR JOE SOLIZ

Tx3rd Coast MMA Has Been One Of The Premiere Martial Arts Gym Around The Houston Area. Breeding Some Of The Best Grapplers/MMA Fighters, Tx3rdCoast MMA Is Looking To Produce The Next Dungal Grand Champion. Below, We Have Caught Up With Professor Joe Soliz. 

Question: We know that you had competed in the Dungal back when it wasn't just grappling only. It also included strikes and submissions. How was the Dungal back then compared to it today?

Answer: Back in the day everyone enjoyed the Dungal due to it wasn't just a grappling tournament but the first MMA style of fighting tournament. As far as grappling , the grapplers of that time weren't as knowledgeable in submissions and certain transitions , much of your success you relied on endurance.  Today a lot of competitors train in Gi so you see a more technical game.  If I'm not mistaken the last 5 to 6 years your Dungal Champions were gi practitioners.  I really like this tournament due to format, submission only no points or judges decision, this type of grappling is the way it was suppose to be.   

Question: Your son, Jason, has been known to be one of the top elite grapplers around. How has it been to have your son compete in the Dungal, win the grand championship, and carry on the torch from father to son?

Answer: Jason and I really enjoy participating at Dungal.  Master Zulfi has always been a great supporter of Jason and I.  Watching Jason win the Dungal 2 years back to back was great knowing my son was competing and winning at the same tournament that I did.

Question: Tell us about your school, Tx3rd Coast?

Answer: Our gym is Tx3rdcoastmma located in Sugar Land , we are a Martial Arts Academy , we have 10 different curriculums BJJ Submission grappling ,MMA, Boxing, Kickboxing, JKD , 4 different classes for kids.  We are open 6 days a week.

Question: Will you be Bringing your students to this years Dungal?

Answer: We look forward to this tournament every year, bringing our students  and looking for the next Dungal Champion!

Question: Any advice you want to give to the Dungal Participants?

Answer: My advise to everyone participating come out , open your game have some fun. 

If you never competed this is the tournament it's a great start , you don't have to worry about points just grapple!  See you guys there.
